The WAX fabrics are industrially produced colourful cotton cloths with batik-inspired printing. One feature of these materials is the lack of difference in the colour intensity of the front and back sides. The wax fabric can be sorted into categories of quality due to the processes of manufacturing. The fabrics are sold in lengths of 12 yards (11 m) as "full piece" or 6 yards (5.5 m) as "half piece".

Dogon wax fabric  refers to a type of African fabric inspired by the traditional designs of the Dogon people of Mali, often featuring intricate geometric patterns and motifs commonly found in their handwoven textiles, particularly the "bogolan" or "mud cloth" which is traditionally dyed with natural mud pigments and is known for its rich cultural symbolism; essentially, it's a modern printed fabric mimicking the aesthetic of authentic Dogon textile designs, often printed on a cotton base with a wax-resist technique to achieve the distinct patterns.

WOODIN is one of the four VLISCO  brands. The VLISCO brand has developed a highly sophisticated production process, whereby the fabric goes through 27 treatments, both by machine and by hand, and takes two weeks to produce. Vlisco fabrics are given an interesting form of symbolism, which allows African women to speak out, yet stay silent. Once a fabric has been designed and shipped, it is given a name which often ties into local sayings by the saleswomen. An example of this is a fabric with a print of open bird-cages and two birds flying out, that goes by the title "Si tu sors, je sors" (You leave, I leave), which means to say "If you think this marriage is something you can take and leave as you please, I will do the same." Other fabrics are known as 'Come to my bedroom wearing your slippers' or 'Kofi Annan's brain". What is important to consider in all this is that this kind of symbolism is only possible both because the messages are open to multiple interpretations and the fabrics are worn as dresses, and no one can divorce or attack a woman for wearing a pretty dress.
